How to Write a Good Article Description

I've had it. I can't take it anymore. After looking at a number of article descriptions that go on for 6-8 lines without saying what the article does for the reader, I've decided to take action.
Look, your readers don't care about your article. They only care about what the article does for them. SO TELL THEM! Here's how:

1. Start with a Verb

For example, this article does something. What does it do? It… describes, looks at, examines, explores, illustrates, explains, shows, points out, discusses compares, etc. Do you see how simple this is? Always start your article description with one of these verbs. Why? Because you immediately tell your reader what the article does for them!

2. Tell Them What the Article Does

What is the main point in your article? For this article, the main point is " how to write a reader-friendly article description using a 3-step approach." Notice that I didn't repeat words I used in the article title. Also notice that this is exactly what this article does. Imagine your reader's surprise when they get exactly what your description told them they'd get! Why, they'll think you actually know what you're talking about. Why? Because you told them in less than 3 sentences! Pretty impressive stuff!

3. Be Succinct

Why do you need to tell your readers what your article does for them in 8 sentences? Don't they get this information from your article? You'd think this would be obvious but many article writers just don't get it. Look, you may think what you've written is interesting beyond compare. Guess what? Nobody really cares but you!! If you can't tell me why I should read your article in less than 3 sentences, why should I invest my time reading what you wrote? I will assume you really can't boil it down for me.

Do the reader and yourself a favor - be succinct. They'll love you for it and think you really know what you're talking about.
